Music Ministry

♪♪♫♪♪  Music at PUCC!!!   ♪♪♫♪♪

We have a strong music program at Portage United Church of Christ, and we invite you to be a part of it!  Our goals are to provide music in the worship service as a meaningful experience for members of the congregation and members of the musical ensembles.  We have opportunities for all who wish to share their musical talents in worship.  If you would like more information on the music program, please contact Cindy Hunter, Director of Music Ministry, at 327-3114 or by e-mail at cindyhunter@portageucc.org.

Covenant Choir:  Our Covenant Choir is open to all singers from high school through adult.  Join us to sing traditional classical favorites and new inspirational music.  Rehearsals are Thursdays in the sanctuary from 7:30 to 9:00 p.m., September through May.

G3—God-Given Gifts:  Our Contemporary Ensemble welcomes singers and instrumentalists who want to offer their talents in a Praise Band format for the youth Praise & Prayer time on Sunday evenings, 6:30–7:00 p.m. (an average of three times per month).

Instrumental Ensemble:  If you play a band or orchestra instrument, we want you!  The Instrumental Ensemble, directed by Karen Woodworth, welcomes all instrumentalists to share a variety of music with the congregation.  The ability to read music is necessary.  The loan of an instrument may be possible if you no longer own one.  Rehearsals are Wednesday evenings in the sanctuary from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Praise Ringers:  If you have previous handbell or other musical experience, you are invited to join Praise Ringers, directed by Norma Collison.  You’ll enjoy a wide-ranging repertoire of music that explores advanced ringing techniques, as well as the support of a caring fellowship.  Rehearsals are held in the music rehearsal room (218) Thursday evenings from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m.

ACT Ringers: ACT stands for Adult, Child & Teenager or As Christ Teaches! No previous musical experience is necessary to make beautiful music with the ACT Ringers. Director Linda Holzwarth welcomes elementary students (2nd grade & up), middle school and high school students, as well as any adults who are young at heart. Rehearsals are held in the music rehearsal room (218) Sunday evenings from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.

Soloists and Small Groups: If you would like to offer a vocal or instrumental solo or small group performance, please contact Cindy Hunter, Director of Music, at 327-3114 or by email at cindyhunter@portageucc.org.
